We all love discounts!

New research by rewards agency Mando-Connect in partnership with YouGov, shows Britons’ have a strong affinity for promotions. The new What The British Think Of Promotions report reveals that two thirds (66%) of the British population take part in promotions, with seven in ten (70%) thinking that all brands should offer them.

Well this is no great surprise, who doesn't like a bargain? For Retailers and Brands, this presents somewaht of a challenge, they've effectively trained their customers to seek out the 'best deal' and for a commodity purchase, this can be very bad news for the traditional retailers who struggle to compete with their online only competitors.

So what's the answer to this dillema. Mark Bergdahl of Loyalty consulting UK believes that getting closer to the customer and offering a share of the promotional budget for below the line offers is part of the solution. This can be done in a very natural and engaging way that will enhance the consumer relationship and get him to more likley consider that retailer before others when making his next purchase.
